Trapper’s Sushi Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Best sushi in the area. Reasonable prices, delicious food and good service. If you are able to do the all you can eat lunch, do it! Great way to try a lot of different rolls, come hungry though! For those who appreciate raw fish (I hope so, if you like sushi) I recommend the Mt. Rainier. For those who are a little unsure of the whole sushi scene, the Bonney lake roll is a sure bet!

When this place first opened it was fantastic. Really truly great sushi, fresh, crisp and super tasty. But that was many years ago. I still can't believe how many people in the area rave about this place. They definitely use a lot of imitation crab now, the nigiri is not terribly fresh and the service is so so. I've had great service there and I have also had horrible service. You just never know. Drive 20-30 mins to Seattle to have mind blowing sushi, way better ambiance, and always great service for the exact same prices. Also, seafood just absolutely has to e fresh to be great.

C'mon you sushi snobs. This place might have the funky sauces and avocados to some rolls but if you want traditional, they do that too. I really suggest the Mt Rainier, I take mine with no Tobiko and whooo....this is a monster. I can tell you peeps a bunch lie of my favs, I keep notes on my phone, but just come and try em out yourself. See Matt on Thursdays with lunch special going on all day, all you can eat.

Great food and friendly service, especially if you have a teenager that can eat five rolls an hour. The lunch special is a good deal! And nose ring girl, let's keep the bleach out of my water

Pros- the sushi is yummy and the service has always been friendly and prompt for how busy they always are. Also their weekday specials are worth checking out Cons- it's very small and there's most always a longer wait.

I absolutely love this place. I could eat here every day of the week. The selection of rolls is amazing. I have yet to have one that I wouldn't ever get again. Typically I get the same few rolls every time I go in. The trapper, Buddha or the trump. This particular location is small, so sometimes the wait time is long, especially on the weekend. The service is always good though & the food is worth the wait.

I used to like coming here until a SPIDER (a BIG ONE) came down from the ceiling right onto my plate in front of me!! THATS WHEN I ABOUT LOST MY LUNCH......SERIOUSLY! WILL NOT EAT HERE EVER AGAIN! IT'S FILTHY! See for yourself by just looking at all the cob webs and "other webs" on the light fixtures above you at the tables!. Makes me wonder about the kitchen.....

Best sushi place around. I ordered the Bonney Lake Roll and a trapper (my usual). Best place is too wait and sit at the bar area. They always have new rolls to try that keeps you coming back for something new. One flaw is that they can be inconstant with rolls. I wish they were more consistent on the roll making. Also expect a wait, very seldom can you just walk in and have a seat available .

  • Seff G.

Depending on your chef you can receive a good roll or a horrible roll it's most likely a horrible roll when it come to Bonney lake trappers

This is still the best sushi bar I've been to in the area. It's definitely Americanized Sushi, but overall awesome! We've been coming here since it was Sushi Town and have loved the staff and menu every step of the way. It is nice to see the company growing but remaining pretty consistent across its different locations. The Bonney Lake location is still my favorite, but I might be biased since I live here. This location and chain would get five stars from me if they could get a decent layout for the restaurants. There is almost no waiting area, far too few seats and tables, and the bar itself is too limited in seating as well. The location has grown in customer base and made a name for itself. I think it's time to expand the footprint and make the layouts similar amongst the various locations. I think the Kent Station set up is the closest to a well designed restaurant, but it still lacks a seamless layout. I think the challenge they have at all locations is that the size of the facilities don't permit them to hire enough servers to keep wait times and service times down, so service can suffer on occasion. That being said, the staff is always friendly and helpful. Sometimes they just need an extra hand!

    My favorite sushi spot!!!

  • Siv Ilina A.

I heard rave reviews about Trapper's for a while before finally talking my significant other into going (he is not a fan of sushi, but he found some rolls that he likes - a lot). I have been to the Kent Station, Puyallup and the Bonney Lake locations, and they are always consistent. A little upset that the Mt. John and the Nigiri have been taken off the lunch menu. If my wallet could handle it, I would be eating lunch here every day. I have a crab allergy and they take extra care not to cross-contaminate. They also changed my mind on my intense hatred for surimi, so I've been able to enjoy more rolls that contain it -- I don't know if it's the brand that they get, or if it's just the manner in which they prep it for use as toppings.. I love it. It's fun to watch them assemble the rolls. In general, the guys behind the bar are polite, friendly and courteous, they are very well-behaved kitchen staff when on the line. It makes for a pleasant dining experience.

If you want good sushi go here!!! Get the bonneylake! Everything is great. People are friendly also!

  • Stephanie B.

Best sushi I've ever had. Service at the bar is always impeccable (can be iffy sometimes at a table). All you can each is such a great deal! My favorite roll is the Buddha; spicy and delicious every time! Wish I could afford to go every week cause that's how often I want it!

    (5)
  • Jessica K.

I like most things on the menu, especially the Captain Crunch roll and Gyoza! Always friendly and fast service whenever I eat in or get take out. Love the staff and love the food!!!

I really really like this place, it's awesome! Limited seating, and always really busy when we go, but I think that this particular location is now my favorite. The sushi was great, and the service was so much better than Tacoma's location. I'll go out of my way to visit this location. Even with Happy hour prices we still paid $50 for 6 rolls, so happy hour is the best way to go. I was really put off by the fact that even though I was already paying extra for them to make my sushi with paper other than the seaweed paper, that I was still required to order a drink, we're not big soda drinkers, and to be required to order one to get the special paper, that we're already paying more for seemed ridiculous, that part bothers me. It's not enough to denture me from coming back, but it sure did not make me happy.

This place is delicious! The only drawback is there isn't a "sushi train". I can usually find coupons online, which I never get hassled for using. Their specialty rolls are the absolute best! The Mt.Rainier and The Bonney Lake roll are my favorites! Definitely try this place! It can get busy at lunchtime so go early or be prepared to wait a bit. But it's worth it.

    (4)
  • Jeff L.

I hear that this is not "traditional" sushi - don't really care. I like this place. Over the years I've tried most of the long rolls that they have to offer and while there are a few rolls that are not my particular cup of tea, I keep coming back...over and over..................and over again. My current favorite is the Budda but I'll never turn down the Bonney Lake or inside out Phoenix, or the Sounder, Dragon, Willis, Trapper......... you get the idea. Warning - sometimes the wait can be long.

Worst. Waitstaff. Ever. The 2 middle-aged women who work here as waitresses really seemed irritated to see 4 adults and two (well-behaved) toddlers come in. All 4 adults wanted the happy hour at the bar but we were told we would have to wait. We decided to just get seated at a table instead. There WAS room, but everybody at the bar was spread out. After one employee finished his lunch at the bar, there was room for all of us, Surprise! Why do their employees sit at the busy bar when there are only 10 seats available? After we got up to the bar, we never saw the waitresses again. no drink refills. No "How are you?" Nothing. So miserable. We paid up front after dining since the waitresses refused to walk by us. waitress overcharged us. Instead of two lunches and a kids meal, she made it 3 lunches and a kids meal. Took us a second to figure out since she only gave us the credit card receipt and not anything itemized. The sushi chefs were great, however, and were working their butts off to get everybody lunch. A little bit heavy on the rice in the rolls, but they got us food fairly quickly and it tasted good. 1 star for waitresses, 4 stars for chefs.

We do frequent this Trappers. The Mountain roll is great. The only sashimi/nigiri I can do is the salmon. I've never had bad salmon, but bites of other fish have not been good for me here. The quality just isn't top notch, it's a fishy taste. The staff mixed up our bill with another customer before, but we check carefully, so it wasn't a big deal, people make mistakes. They have always been friendly to us and it's nice that it's kid friendly.

  • Alyssa R.

This is my favorite sushi place to go to! I've had the all you can eat multiple times and I've ate at a table. THE FOOD IS ALWAYS!!! AMAZING! I love this place more than words can describe, the waitresses are amazing and the sushi cooks are amazing as well, I've never had to ask for another roll they are always on top of it! I will never stop eating here.

My fiancé and I come to trappers very often. We normally go to the one in Puyallup but we in the Bonney Lake area and chose to go to that location. The chefs where very good and very quick to helping us!! But the waitress service was horrible. I had ate a full role and ordered a second before they even came up and asked us if we wanted water or anything to drink.

Love this place. Fantastic quality and great service. My wife and I frequently visit and it's wonderful and delicious food every time. The rock and roll and rainbow are my favorites but I know the whole menu is great. Keep up the good work.

Great service, okay food. Came here for a late lunch today because it's near my place. I also heard good things about Trappers so I decided to try it out. Luckily the boyfriend and I came during happy hour so it was 3 rolls for $20, excellent deal! We ordered gyoza and miso soup for an appetizer but they were NOT hot when it came out, both were pretty warm. We got the Bonney Lake, Monster and Very Happy. They were all okay... I've had better. But it was very reasonably priced. They have a picture of two white kids near the bathroom wearing Chinese clothes. I found that super ignorant. If you wanted to go with the whole sushi / Japanese theme the kids should be in kimonos not fucking pajamas from Chinatown. But what can I expect... it IS Bonney Lake.

Really mediocre the shrimp I had were very soggy and the sauce lacked flavor. Customer service was ok. Probably won't be back.

Trappers is the mcdonalds of sushi. Sorry to say it- but it's the truth. That being said- I have eaten here 3 times because it's close to my house. I keep hearing these rave reviews so I keep giving this place a chance. 1) miso soup- luke warm salt water with floating soggy tofu with way too much sea weed. If you ever had miso soup out of a package at the grocery store-- expect the exact same quality here. 2) Every single one of their sushi rolls is stuffed with artificial krab that's floating in a sea of cream cheese with gallons of some sort of mystery sauce dumped over the top. 3) There is no door dividing the bathrooms from the main sitting area. Gross! The place smells like a dirty bathroom and guess what else ? Whatever people decide to do in the bathroom radiates into the dining area. Disgusting !! 4) I ordered chicken teriyaki once to avoid eating sushi here. Double yuck-- I think the meat came out of a crock pot and some watery teriyaki sauce that was cold was squirted on top. I tried to like you, trappers. But seriously ? No thanks.

I'm from San Francisco and I visit my bf's family occasionally in Bonney Lake. He said this place is popular so I ordered takeout, didn't have high expectations honestly, but WOW was I surprised! I got seaweed salad, vegetable tempura, and the sounder. The portions are so big for the price! Seriously I wish this place was in San Francisco I would hit it up all the time! You can't find this much sushi for this price in San Francisco. Seriously, locals or people living in this area should appreciate this place for what it is: Bomb sushi at a good price. Now for the venue, I didn't eat in I ordered take out, the takeout was great service, no problems. The interior of the restaurant isn't anything special, but hey great sushi and a great price so I will definitely go back and dine in next time I'm in town and see how that aspect is.

I've been here and some of the other locations a handful of times over the years and usually for lunch. It's a great place and their specialty rolls are fantastic. It's also good for basic sushi too. The people are always super nice and willing to give suggestions if you're unsure.

Best sushi hands down!!! I have been going to Trappers sushi (Formerly Sushi Town) for over 8 years and no other sushi places can compete! They are friendly, fast, and always have the best rolls!

    (5)
  • Rocci H.

decent sushi, but terriyaki was steamed not grilled, not good at all. decor is dingy and cheap. staff young, not experienced or trained to handle a busy crowd. its set in bonney lake, so expectations not set high, but left wanting a better experience none the less. they have a great selection of rolls, but not consistently made the same, even when made by the same chef. I have been here a half dozen times with friends who love it, but again they live in bonney lake and rarely get off the hill.

Tried Trapper's in Bonney Lake for the first tine and loved the sushi and service, the staff was knowledgeable and helpful! My wife and I will be going back frequently!!!

My family and I went here and first they were out of Edamame, then they were out of Miso Soup, then they forgot to bring our salads before the course. On top of that the sushi wasn't fresh and the kids chicken was dry. Service was lousy and the food was worse.... I highly recommend you stear clear of this dive...

Second time and second good dinner date. Eating at the bar provides great entertainment with the staff or kick back and enjoy the American baseball or Brit vs Madrid soccer game. Fresh food and veggie sushi options, too

I was a fan since the days of the flagship location in Bonney Lake, Sushitown. Honestly this restaurant used to be amazing... Fresh, inventive and the best quality. But no more. I will never eat there again at any location. Terrible food, nasty rolls...the quality is crap and I've actually gotten sick there twice..talk about loyal. Always giving them another chance. Never again. Plus the owner, Trapper, sent me a gift card as a apology for a bad experience & I went to use it...they don't take them anymore. Talk about a slap in the face. I'm over this place. Don't bother. Go to any other sushi restaurant but Trappers. Incredibly disappointing.

There is nothing wrong with this place. From service to food to atmosphere it is the best and most awesome location for all you can eat sushi in Washington state. The servers are friendly and fast, the sushi chefs are personable and make amazing rolls, and the price is reasonable! Best location for sushi by far. Trust me - I'm a foody.

I have been to several sushi places and this one is my favorite! I have a list of my current favorite rolls I carry in my purse and I am always excited to see what new ones are available! As much as I love the food, the service is what elevates it to the next level! The Bonney Lake location is very "intimate" and they have such a terrific ability to serve quickly and maintain a super inviting atmosphere! My only hope is there will be To-Go ordering specials available in the near future for those of us on the go. :)

The sushi was ok. Not great. Reminded me of supermarket sushi. The kids teriyaki chicken was really, really dry and just had thick cold sauce squirted on it. This is the same every visit. Always. However these two things have less to do with the low rating I am leaving and mostly to do with how they treat families with children. We have visited at least 10 times, so this is not a isolated experience. I love sushi so I kept going back. But I have to admit I actually get nervous when we walk in the door. They make us wait longer to be seated and act very irritated that we have brought our children. We have a 13, 10, 6 and 3 year old. We are always polite and our children are well behaved. Add that to the fact that our bill is never less than 80 dollars and I finally realized. Why go back to a place that makes me feel so uncomfortable? Now we travel to Konami in Lake Tapps. The sushi is fantastic there and they always welcome our family and actually seem to enjoy our repeat business.

After hearing some enthusiastic reviews for Sushi Town, I finally made the trek to have a taste. What I like: flexibility & creativity all over the menu. Want a sashimi appetizer? Choose up to 3 types of fish, get 6 pcs for $7.95. Want to make up a roll? Pick up to 6 items, starting at $6.50. A nice list of over 25 maki, I had the Trapper - an Asian flavored shrimp salad on a roll of cooked scallop, onion & tobiko. It was fine, not too much mayo and a good amount of scallop. Downside: Most maki are cooked types, like California or Spider. Granted, we're far away from the water - so this makes sense. It's just worth noting. On this same note, the nigiri list is nice, but basic. Do not order sunomono - the dressing is very salty & the tako is finely diced. I found sushi prices high average side for a restaurant of this type. Cally was $4.95. Tekka $5. Most deluxe maki are in the $10 range. The vibe is happy, local, comfy and busy. Everyone seems happily settled into their "sushi routine". This is a fine intro to Japanese food if you're new, a good fix if you're in the area. Sushi Town is a fine combination of American innovation and Japanese eats.

We were big fans of this restaurant and used to go at least once a week. Their quality is just not the same. We tried Sushi Konami in Lake Tapps and never went back to Trappers. Our biggest turnoffs from Trappers were - presentation, chef's technique, and overall cleanliness of the restaurant. I really hope they make improvements. Until then, they lost two regular customers.

it 's a place for american sushi not japanese sushi, you know what i mean? the food is juz ok for me, if you are trying to find some more traditional sushi, here is not a gd place...

I'm not sure if I came in on a bad night or what, but my sushi here was bad. Actually, I wouldn't go so far as to call it bad, it was tasteless. By definition, can something with no taste, be bad? That's a "if a tree falls in the forest" kind of question I think, but I had to reach deep into the recesses of my mind to contemplate it. I ordered the Spicy Tuna roll, and before all you sushi "gurus" out there get all twisted and say "that isn't real sushi and blah blah blah," know that I know that already. The Spicy Tuna is my test roll at ANY new sushi place I try because it's one of those rolls that is everywhere, and won't make me deathly ill if someone screws it up (like Uni would for instance.) This roll had NO flavor. It really just tasted like bland, chewy, stale rice. Mouth watering huh? There were no pops of flavor from either the spice or the tuna. How do you make a Spicy Tuna roll with no tuna flavor or spice? I have friends who swear by this place, and I seriously calling into question our friendships after dining here on their recommendation. I'd really like to give this place another shot and add a few more stars to this review, but I'm not sure I'll muster up the courage to walk through those doors and spend my hard earned cash.

We come here pretty frequently and we made the trip over for my fiance's birthday. Service was great, food was great and generally it was a perfect experience. We were a party of 5 and there was hardly any space on the table for all of the waters and plates and such- c'est la vie! We'll be back- as always GREAT STUFF!!

I've heard mixed reviews of Trapper's (the sister joint) in Covington, so I suggested this place to my co-worker. It does seem to have all white chef's (all 4-6 of them in the small area). Not necessarily a bad thing, but customers have different tastes, right? The space felt pretty clean and modern. Service was ok. I think she said have a seat anywhere. I got the Dinner Special (A)? Long Roll Variety... ...Oooo, that was good! The rolls looked great, nigiri looked awesome, and it all tasted fresh and really good. The server offered their all you can eat, but we declined. The sushi bar was pretty full; fairly busy evening. *subtly nods* I'm likin' this place.

  • Emma F.

I have been coming here since Trappers was called Sushi Town, I have seen them grow and I gotta say that i WILL NOT eat sushi anywhere else. Spent many birthdays here and had many new experiences...to include, having my first raw fish which I'm not a fan of (thanks goodness for the cooked stuff), trying a hand roll, and trying hot flavored sake. I love the staff and of course the food. The all you can eat is totally worth it, coming from someone who could eat 4 rolls. The chefs are always happy to see you and always make good conversation. Also if you ever ask one of the chefs to surprise you you will not be disappointed.

Best restaurant in town! Love their sushi. The Bonney Lake one and the Jimmy crunch are really good. The costumer service could be worked on a little bit. But other than that I've never had a bad experience with them.

I am a trappers fan! I have ate at the Covington, kent & puyallup locations several times. Being this was my first time at this location I was waiting to see how consistent they were at quality & service across all locations. An surprisingly I had 5 star service here just like I have had at all the other locations. My favorite roll is the sounder and it's perfect every time I order it!

We ventured out to give Trapper's Sushi a try. As a newly transplanted family from the SF bay area, we have been jonesing for a new Sushi spot we can call home or close enough to home. So this is the set-up. Small place with about 9 tables to sit and dine and sushi bar seating. We went on a Tuesday evening and it was all you-can eat sushi for $20, $15 for kids. We ended up spending $70 including tip for 2 adults, one child, 2 waters, 1 kids drink and a $10 tip. After sitting down, my husband asked about the all you can eat rumor and our luck it was on Tuesday night, score! The waitress was very nice and offered for us to stay at our table while we waited, because all you can eat is at the bar only, and there was a wait. About 20 minutes later (almost 530 pm) we had seats at the bar. If the bar is busy like it was when we first sat down, then the wait is unbearable, because hunger and jealously get the best of you. There are so many choices and combos of cream cheese, tempura and spicy that one could really get derailed into not so good for you selections. We had The Happy, The Sonic, California Roll, Unagi hand rolls, STP, Rock in Roll, and few more. I feel we got our money's worth, but sitting at the bar was not comfortable, since we had to put up with a sushi chef that liked to hear his own bantering, it got exhausting to say the least. Next time, we'll aim for a table if it's as busy as it was last night. For anyone deciding on whether to try this place out, I would say go! Find out for yourself, because the food is good and fresh. And bone up on the menu before you go, it's easy to start ordering and wished you had remembered, THAT one roll you thought sounded good. Too late, you're too full. Oh and it was a little different from sushi houses back in Cali...white boys rolling sushi to country music?? Nan des kah? But these Bonney Lake boys can roll, let me tell ya!

    (3)
  • Nicole R.

Some of the best rolls I have ever had! We live close by and have eaten here countless times. They do get very busy especially at lunch time so service can be slow, however, it is worth the wait. My husband also has a shellfish allergy and they are very conscience about keeping his separate. We have never had a problem.

  • Sherry P.

Out of all the trappers locations this one is my absolute favorite. Maybe because it's the original Trappers. Or maybe because I've been there enough that the employees recognize me. Either way I love trappers and could eat there everyday... If my bank account let me.

Love Trapper's Sushi, Do Not like the Bonney Lake location. We have been a customer of Trapper's since they originally opened at this location as Sushi Town. The sushi has always been great, however the service at this location is poor. When Trapper did a menu change we asked the server about the usual $20 dinner special that was normally on that day, the server became argumentative and we were told we needed to look at the other hours/days on the specials, and that we should know they were the same. We were sitting at the sushi bar and that was the last time our server came to assist us, we even had to go to the counter to get our bill. The next and last time my daughter and I were there for lunch... different waitress. We ordered our food, received our food and again never saw our server. We finished our meal and were ready to go, finally noticing our waitress was at the sushi bar eating her lunch. We now only go to the Covington location. I understand that Trapper's has gone through training at this location, but we are reluctant to go back. I am rating this a two star based on service. The sushi chefs have always been polite, and we do like the sushi.

  • Akiko T.

I love coming here. So much so, that we got a punch card! If you can eat at least two rolls.. The all you can eat lunch is worth it. My favorite go to roll is the Trapper Roll. I always bring my Sushi virgins to this restaurant to ease them into the world of sushi and they always love it. The Sushi Town roll is all cooked and is great for newbies! The only complaint I have is that the restaurant is a little on the small side for how busy they always are and the staff here is constantly changing which causes a few inconsistencies. I will continue to be a regular customer at this restaurant.

I guess people don't get out of Bonney Lake much if they think this place is good. It's seriously horrible food and not worth the wait.

  • Christy P.

This place was recommended to me by a family member. The atmosphere is hip hop.. the workers, the music, and the decor. The menu was gravely disappointing consisting of shrimp or fried rolls in 90% of the roll menu. Not wanting to make a hike for a real sushi joint, We ordered a spicy tuna handroll, Puyallup roll, and the sounder roll. Everything was bland and doughy. The tempura wasn't even cooked all the way through and just goo'd up the rice. This is NOT a sushi place... This is an Americanized version of the fish and rice combination. This is where people go who want to say they "eat" sushi. Quite a huge disappointment and will not waiver from my known stomping grounds.

Have been here and tried about 8 different rolls. They were all good except the trump that was not my thing, It tasted burnt. The bonney lake and trapper were just ok for me, but lots of ppl love em. My favorites are the Warrior, Captain crunch, Willis and any of the ones with crystal shrip :)

I am not a big sushi fan, but I really like this place. I first ate at Trapper's when my son took me out for Father's Day. The sushi here has been westernized & that is why I like it at Trappers. My favorite is the Mount Rainier. I have tried a few other places & this place is my favorite.

Everyone I know (Bonney Lake locals) thinks this place has the best Sushi they have ever tasted. Most people tell me the Bonney Lake roll is delicious. I'm not a sushi guy so take my review with a grain of salt. I can tell you that the dishes I have had here are great, and everyone i know loves this place so you should try it if you are interested in getting sushi. However, I can tell you the place is ran by a bunch of white guys, and the dishes do not see authentic to me and some of them lack that extra flavor and ingredients that I desire.

The place was packed when I went! Even though I had to wait for a seat at the sushi bar, it was worth the wait! The rolls were all delicious and HUGE! The Bonney Lake and the Rock n Roll were my fav. The only downers were it took forever to get something to drink (I just had water so it shouldn't have been too hard), and a couple of the rolls were a little "loose", so when you picked it up with chopsticks, the piece would break apart. That won't stop me from making this a place a favorite!

Amazing food. Awesome service. Great atmosphere. Just came out with some really good new rolls. We are a local business in the area and love going here for lunch. Also, love that they donate a lot to the community and support local charities. They donate to great causes. Wonderful people. The Trapper and Bonney Lake are great rolls and my new favorite is the volcano.

Garbage, nothing but fillers with zero skill and they take the longest time to make your order.

For a sushi snob, I honestly don't recommend this place for people who have experienced authentic sushi. If you plan on going all out for a wonderful sushi experience, drive a few miles more to Seattle to get that experience! seriously. Check out Maneki (traditional) in the International District, or Umi's in Belltown (Asian Fusion.) Not to bad mouth this place but their service isn't that great, their sushi rice is dry, and they put way too much of it on their rolls. However, I will give them this... they're the only place in Bonney Lake that serves sushi - HOORAY! 3 Stars!

This is my all time favorite sushi restaurant. We have driven over an hour before just to go here. All the rolls are reasonably prices and all the seafood is extremely fresh. If you sit at the counter the sushi chefs are very friendly and engaging. I highly recommend this place.

Trapper has established himself at the best sushi in South King County / East Pierce County. No, it's not authentic Japan / Hawaii type sushi with a focus on the nigiri, rather it's a unique Americanized take on long roll style sushi. The long rolls really rock. We use them to cater a couple parties each year. The lunch all you can eat special is amazing. Get there early, or you may have to wait for a seat at the bar.

I have been a customer of Trapper's since he worked at the sushi bar in the Muckleshoot Casino, so I'm a loyal fan to a certain extent but unfortunately, I have seen some less than favorable changes in quality, etc. over the years. The first thing that has always disappointed me is that their Bonney Lake location is entirely too small. They don't even have any space to wait in that is not on top of tables of customers that are trying to eat. They really, really need to relocate and I did not understand why they remodeled a year or so ago instead of moving. Their service and cleanliness are also things that could use some help. The waitresses are okay, but a couple of them are not very friendly at all. The cleanliness is just that the place could really use some deep cleaning or attention to detail. The windows, blinds, window sills, etc. I have noticed that the rolls are getting smaller. You still get the same number of pieces out of each roll, but the rolls are smaller in circumference now. Lastly, I have always been bothered by the fact that they do not use real crab in a lot of their rolls, but they don't call it out as fake crab. I honestly don't think that any sushi place should have any kind of fake fish. We really do like Trapper's sushi, but wish they would work on a few things that seem to have deteriorated over time.

This place is AMAZING. Its the best Sushi that I can remember having in the past couple of years. I have only been there for lunch, but that is the best time to go given the buffet style sushi bar (read on...) You will probably have to wait if there are more than 2 in your group, but I HIGHLY recommend eating at the bar if you will eat more than 2 rolls by yourself. For $17.99 (the $12.95 price from the other review is outdated), its all you can eat for 1 hour, but only at the bar. They will make your rolls or nigiri right there for you, and as you are getting down to the last piece or two in your roll, the chef will ask which one you want next. Any roll that you don't eat at least half of, you will be charged the full price for that roll. If not eating at the bar, specialty rolls run about $8-10 a piece, so the bar quickly becomes economical. They also serve Teriyaki and other dishes at the tables. The staff is super friendly, and are willing to give advice on your selections. I highly recommend the "Trapper", "Mountain" and "Sushi Town" rolls. The trapper and mountain are huge, so hopefully you brought an appetite. Although there is no delivery, you can call ahead with takeout orders. I do not recommend bringing a group, at least at lunch time.

Servers are ALWAYS friendly, once you learn how the chefs prepare their rolls you can always tweak a bit. Only complaint is seems the servers don't stay on top of water refills, but once request from my chef and it's filled with in minutes. Great restaurant, always a good experience for us!

When you walk into a sushi restaurant and you're the only Asian there (this includes the staff) then you know it's going to suck. I played it safe with the Beef Teriyaki while my boyfriend got two different rolls. My food came with miso, the easiest soup in the world... Or so I thought. My miso was luke warm and so full of tofu and seaweed, I barely had any broth. Moreover, the broth I did have was weak and completely overpowered by the taste of seaweed. After my soup, they brought us "edamommy". No, that isn't their cute name for it, that's just how badly they pronounced it. My edamame was way too over cooked, brown and mushy and covered in way too much salt. My teriyaki came quickly, however, I was almost finished by the time by boyfriend got his rolls. My rice was mush and my beef, well, it was more like really thin steak cut against the grain and then bathed in some weird sauce. Not anything close to any other beef teriyaki I've ever had. It wasn't bad, per se, but it wasn't very good. Like any other attempt at white people making Asian food and failing miserably. The rolls themselves weren't bad. He got the Thunderbird and the Marvelous. The wasabi was so cold it didn't mix well with the soy sauce at first and stayed in a right ball rolling around the plate. I have no idea what kind of soy sauce they use, but it definitely wasn't Kikkoman, like the container suggested. It was unlike any other one we've had, and not in a good way. Overall, this was probably the worst experience at a sushi place I've ever had. The place was busy (again, we were the only Asians), so maybe it's good if you have no idea what sushi is supposed to taste like, but for everyone else... BEWARE!!!

Here is the deal with this place. Sushi is good most days, depends on who is working that day. The weekends is usually the best cause Will is there and he is literally the rock that holds that place together. The other people that work there have a lot to learn about rolling sushi. The sushi is fresh, the service is... meh ok. Sit at the bar and you will get taken care of for sure. The only thing that irritated me last time i went there, was two of teh employees were bragging about how they one best sushi in western washington. Here is the thing guys, its pretty much a popularity contest. Dont let your heads get too big, i have had better sushi then americanized sushi town.

Top-quality AYCE Sushi! Get over the fact that you're in a strip mall, and settle onto a stool at the sushi bar for the indulgence that is all-you-can eat sushi. I got a round of nigiri sushi pieces while I pondered the roll menu, and the fish was fresh and wonderful. My only complaint is that the sushi rice was dry (I know from making sushi at home that keeping the rice covered with a damp cloth solves this problem, but all the rice here was out in the air). The roll menu has more than 20 items on it, most available as long roll or hand roll. The rolls I saw while sitting at the bar were generous and artfully presented. It's worth noting that on Monday they serve AYCE sushi all day at the lunch price ($17.95). Worth the drive if you're an AYCE Sushi fan.

Oddly enough I wasn't here for sushi. Yes it is a sushi place but, I don't touch seafood. My friends dragged me here because they wanted the 'all you can eat' dinner or lunch thing. I can't remember. So I got chicken teriyaki. Assuming since it's a sushi place they don't know how to cook ANYTHING. The chicken was Sahara desert dry and the rice was okay at best (I make better rice at home). I couldn't really eat it, but did to be nice. Their gyoza was good, but over fried. And you didn't get much filling in those little japanese dumplings. Not to mention it was like really pricey for 6 gyoza Service was hoooorrrrrible. It was half empty and we STILL had to wait 30 minutes to get seats at the sushi bar. Plus when I ordered they didn't bring me a drink even though I said 'Can I get a glass of water?' So if you don't eat sushi and people bring you here, bring a bagged dinner or just don't eat.

I was one of the guests Thad H. mentioned in his review. Absolutely love the assortment of rolls here, and tell people about it all the time! All you can eat is a fabulous option, a bit spendy however - I would also suggest a good happy hour. I will continue to frequent Sushi Town, and bring others with me! Employees are friendly, and willing to customize your order to make it perfect. I highly recommend the Bonney Lake. Easily my favorite.

Pros and cons Pros- I always feel I get good value here. When in town it is one of the few restaurants my wife and I will discuss if we are going out. There is very good selection on the menu and the service is fast and friendly. Most of all, the sushi is very fresh and fancy...I have been to those 'other' cheap places where it is hard to tell where the rice stops and the fish starts...not here. Cons - Lately, it is has been hit and miss in terms of the overall quality...no clue as to why but it is something we both noticed. It hasn't and won't stop me from going and recommending the place but makes one go "Hmmmmm". It is important to note it is more of a cafe/diner style place so not much atmosphere but what do you expect from a place in a strip mall. Overall - As a self proclaimed sushi snob I say "Yay!" for Trapper's. It is great to know there is great sushi in Bonney Lake!

My wife is not much for sushi, and I fall somewhere near the "I haven't met a piece of sushi I didn't like" catagory so when a good freind invited me to Sushi Town in Bonney Lake I was all in!! It has been a few years since I had been out for sushi so I had an untarnished palate and a desire to be blown away. The first piece to meet my chopsticks was the the Mt. Rainier a fantasic creation of crystal shrimp covered with spicy cooked scallop, green onion & tabiko with just enough spice to make you want more. I followed the Mt Rainier with Fire Cracker which consisted of Salmon & jalapeno in tempura with warm cream cheese. Add in some sashemi, miso soup, gyoza and wash it all down with some green tea and wala you have a fantastic lunch in Bonney Lake

I went in for the ALL_YOU_CAN_EAT & I ended up just ordering a couple rolls... & I was stuffed! I am a bigger boy too... So, I know the all you can eat is appealing, just make sure you can get you money's worth. The rolls are huge!

Wonderful Sushi at affordable prices. Some of the biggest and most unique long rolls i have ever seen or tasted. I have not had bad sushi yet. I visited this location today and my first experience was in Covington, Wa..I love both places, and plan to visit the other 2 sushi restaurants. One of my favorites by far. I'll be back really soon, maybe again before New Years. Love it. Great staff, great sushi chefs. They know what they are doing.

Sushi Town rocks!!! my only wish is that they move to a bigger place. Friday is sushi night at our house so I call it in and struggle for standing room...it is a GOOD thing and I am just being selfish. I remember going there when my little one was 1 month old, that was back in 2004 when he first opened...love it!

If you're coming here, go for the sushi. We've tried the teriyaki-type food and it's not really good but the sushi is DELICIOUS!! My husband and I LOVE the Trump and it's really easy to spend at this place. It's not like it's expensive per se but the Trump itself is $15...so once you start ordering a few more rolls, you're easily at $50+ for two people...especially if you're getting drinks/miso soups...etc. Anyways, this is definitely our favorite sushi place :)

New to the area, we were looking for a good sushi place. We found it, the sushi was very good and the staff very attentive and friendly. We tried 4 different rolls, they were all very good. We went on a Thursday night, got seated right away. We attempted this on Saturday night but the place was packed and we were too hungry to wait. Highly recommend!

I was seriously so full it hurt after taking advantage of the all you can eat today. The only thing we need now is a happy hour time when things are half off and you would see me every afternoon. I have taken many guests here when they are in town and all of us love what you are doing and it is always a hit. Keep it up guys, you are adding value to Bonney Lake!

The first time I discovered that there was a sushi restaurant near(ish) my house in this small town I was overjoyed. Having been a city girl for the past near-decade and moving back to this beers-steers-qu..no.. town, my fervor for dead uncooked fishies and sticky rice and odd pickled vegetables was out of control... so off to Sushi Town. Obviously, everyone else likes sushi or sushi-like things or maybe just some tempura, because on my first visit the place was PACKED. Unfortunately, packed with parties of 2 or more, because those are the people they like to seat. If you're by yourself, you obviously just want to stand there are watch people who were behind you get seated first, while you wait patiently and try to make eye-contact (good luck) with ANYONE for the LOVE OF GOD, working there. The other times I had been there on my own, it was the same kind of wait-around-being-ignored kind of situation, thus I'm gathering that it's not just a matter of them being uber-busy and overlooking poor lone diners such as myself. I've also noticed if you do not fit in with a certain crowd (you're not in a faily of 4, you're not a couple on a date, you're not old as shit) the ignorance factor goes up another notch. I've been there with my (much) younger sister, who just loves sushi, and I wanted to take her to a nice meal. I guess if you're a couple of gals who aren't over 35, you probably won't get waited on in any expediated manner. The service aspects aside, the food is quite good here. The sashimi is definitely not in miniscule proportions, you do get a nice good meaty chunk of fish (and I usually go for salmon or tuna sashimi, sometimes octopus). The nigiri sushi is always top-notch, very fresh, and rolled well - i.e. it's not falling apart the second you pick it up. They do not skimp on anything. The best deal, I think, is the Sushi B combination for $18 - you get several choices of sashimi, and nigiri - this all comes with miso soup and rice - and a most delicious seaweed salad. In the end, I'm on the fence about continuing business with Sushi Town.. I do NOT like bad service for the sake of good food, and I do not like to wait forever for anything less than a 5-star meal (sue me, I'm a snob). If they hired a more competent staff who were pass the hair-flipping-yea-uhhuh! stage I think they would offer a much more pleasant dining experience.

Been coming here for years. Since Trapper opened a second place in Covington, this place has suffered. The sushi is still good but the service is sloooooow and the place is dirty more often than not. Because it is the only sushi bar for many miles there is often a long wait to be seated. Sorry to say that my time would probably be better spent driving farther to a place where the employees actually cared about service and cleanliness.

I have been here plenty of times, and it never dissapoints! I have tried many different kinds of sushi on the menu, and I find that they are all excellent. I highly recommend the Monster or Bonney lake. Easily my favorite Sushi in the area!

Was here two days ago for an early dinner. I frequent this place but I have never seen it as dirty as it was two days ago. The floor needed a vacuum really bad and it made me cringe. The only reason I am giving it 3 stars is because I know its not always like this. The food is always good. I opt for Dinner A with Trapper and it is always filling and delicious. The younger female wait staff always seem to have attitude and are NOT attentive, forgetting things and ignoring details and easily distracted by visiting friends. The older female server is always on top of things and the male sushi chefs behind the counter are always squared away. Will go again but was disappointed with my last visit.

I've got much love for this little sushi place located in a strip mall in Bonney Lake. If you're like me you are doubting how good sushi can be in rural Bonney Lake. Well, let me tell you it is right up there with some of the best sushi restaurants in downtown Seattle. My favorite item there is the Trapper (fried shrimp inside, spicy cooked scallops on top, yum!) and the Trump (fried shrimp inside, torched salmon on top with a creamy sort of mayo, sooo good). GIve it a try, you will like it if you are a Sushi Lover.

While smaller than it's sushi sibling in Covington, the place is just as good as Trappers! And it should be since it's owned by the same guy! Damn good!

I went for the ayce lunch special. It was Tuesday, so they had the all you can eat dinner price at 20$ a person all day, which included much more than the lunch price. The sushi chefs were very friendly, which is why I'm giving 2 stars. The sushi itself, not a fan. I had the trapper, topped with baked scallops in some sauce. There were so many scallops on top in the unapppetizing mayo like sauce, i almost felt the need to spit them out somewhere. I ended up scraping 3/4 of them off into my edamame bowl. My second roll was a little better. The trump, which was tempura shrimp roll with salmon in a torched semi spicy mayo sauce. This one was edible for me. My boyfriend had the Marvelous roll and the captain crunch roll, both pretty bland and left me with no good impression. My main complaint about the rolls here is that almost everything uses a tempura shrimp roll as the base, and also that the flavor of the fish is completely taken away by the overwhelming use of toppings. I prefer two koi sushi in tacoma, who also has endless roll specials on lunch for the same price. Probably won't be making the drive to bonney lake again for sushi.

Not to brag but I'm pretty much the master of sushi. Or I eat a good amount anyways. This place has hella good sushi- it can be a liitle pricy depending on what you get. The only thing that is hard to stomach is the butt rock they play in there.

WOW, this place had EXCELLENT food! We ordered the Smurf, Phoenix, California and the Willow. They were ALL delicious! WHEW! They even had practice chop sticks for my chop stick handicapped husband :D We also met a very nice, young man that had been going their for years, and he was the epitome of a poster boy for Sushi Town and even gave us samples of HIS food! LOL They were all really good. Geez, what else can I say but that we will definitely be going their again in the future.

  • John T.

Excellent sushi and the $18.95 all you can eat lunch can't be beat. What keeps it from being rated higher is the ambience. Too small and too hard to get into sometimes. As much as the food as good, the wait isn't. Wait staff could learn a thing or two as well. The guys behind the bar are pleasant. The sushi is great though. Excellent quality fish served in a nice sized pieces. Am a fan of nigiri more than rolls in general and wish that they would offer more variety in that direction and not just the usual stuff.

we ordered the extreme, new york and seattle rolls with miso soup for 3. the rice was WARM, fish lukewarm, the crab was artificial. very bland. soup was gritty. even the pickled ginger-seemed to be sub-par. the best i can say is no one got sick...
